AND THE NARRATIVES OF HOPE
NEW ALBUM "TRIGGER" OUT NOW
Melbourne-based Australian outlaw country singer-songwriter, Gareth Leach, has dropped his hard-hitting album Trigger, landing at #2 on the iTunes Country Albums chart and #4 overall/genres and debuting on The Official ARIA Charts at #2 Australian Country Album, #4 Country Album and #14 Australian Album.
Self-produced and engineered, Trigger is Gareth’s sophomore album, tackling tough subject matter, with introspective lyrics and a powerful vocal performance met with traditional folk and country instrumentation.
To launch the album, Gareth and his band impressively performed via livestream from separate locations across Victoria due to C-19 lockdown (watch on YouTube here).
Introspective lyrics and a powerful vocal performance are met with traditional folk and country instrumentation across this exceptional album, featuring guest performances from Ewen Baker (Shane Howard Trio) and Aussie bluegrass legend and Golden Guitar slinger, Hamish Davidson.
Gareth Leach is at the forefront of contemporary country music in Australia. He’s a performer and songwriter who understands and respects the tradition, whist giving it a contemporary edge.
“Greetings from Melbourne’s Covid Lockdown! I’m so excited to release this record and honestly can’t express how much it means to me to have this album finally out into the world. It’s a very personal record, full of songs that are close to my heart and touch on topics that I hope resonate with you. Although dark at points, it is essentially a narrative of HOPE…and it’s for you. Big love!”
NEW SINGLE "HONEY" OUT NOW
‘Honey’ is the latest brilliant single from Melbourne outlaw country artist, Gareth Leach, landing at #1 on the iTunes Top Country Songs chart. Distributed through Social Family Records, Honey was lifted from Gareth’s forthcoming new album, Trigger (slated for release September 4).A strong and rebellious alt country rock track with all the right grooves, it raises its middle-finger at those
preconceptions that you must own a house, have kids, have lots of money, be stable…all the good, sweet and gooey stuff. It’s Leach’s way of saying we should be able to live life without pressure and externally injected anxiety.
“Honey is about how fragile it all is – and largely dependent on money,” says Gareth. “Society places a certain and, for most people, unrealistic expectation on us and what we need to be able to achieve “self-worth” and to live a “successful life” in this largely narcissistic, secularist and nihilistic post millennial world.
”The artwork, like the song, directly symbolises this ethos with the almost embedded rebellious nature of real country music through the outlaws such as Haggard, and who could forget the iconic images of Johnny Cash’s “flipping the bird”; which is represented by the strength of “the hive”.
